Kia Seltos is helping the Korean automaker build a reputation in the second most populous country in the world with huge sales even though it just started selling a few months ago.
The Korean automaker has entered the Indian market last year with the Kia Seltos as the first model to sell, more recently with the MPV Carnival; Recently, however, Kia defeated Tata and Mahindra to become the third largest manufacturer in the billion-dollar market, with 15,644 units sold in February.
In particular, Seltos sales accounted for nearly all of Kia’s sales of cars with 14,024 units in February. Since its launch 7 months ago, this SUV has sold 75,000 units, which means that every 4 minutes will have a Kia Seltos to customers.
In fact, Kia Seltos has surpassed the sales of all smaller and cheaper SUV / crossovers, while also taking away customers from competitors in the same segment. The Seltos advantage lies in the spacious interior, many engine options and versions.
Currently, this model is being sold in India with 3 engine options and 4 types of gearbox. Possessing the smallest capacity but the biggest power is the turbocharged 1.4L petrol engine with a maximum capacity of 140 horsepower and maximum torque of 242 Nm, comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox or dual clutch 7 grant.
The next option is a naturally aspirated 1.5L petrol engine, producing a maximum of 115 horsepower and 144 Nm of torque, combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable CVT. Finally, Kia Seltos has the option of a turbocharged 1.5L Diesel engine, which produces 115 horsepower and maximum torque of 250 Nm, along with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
Despite the price increase in January, Kia Seltos is still quite cheap, this model is being sold in the Indian market from 989,000 to 1,734,000 rupees (about 309 to 542 million VND).
